Top 5 Tallest NBA Players in the World
The average height for an NBA player is roughly 6 feet 7 inches. But the guys were going to be talking about today far exceed that height.

5. Chuck Nevitt (7 feet 5 inches)
Chuck is actually the tallest NBA champion in history. He played center position throughout his 9 year career where he played for the Houston Rockets- Los Angeles Lakers- Detroit Pistons- Chicago Bulls- and San Antonio Spurs.
And although he was an NBA champion he only appeared in 155 games- playing a total of 826 minutes which equals out to about 18 complete NBA games.
4. Yao Ming (7 feet 6 inches)
In 2002 Yao Ming was the number 1 pick in the draft and had a very successful career with the Rockets. He was an 8-time all-star and made the All-NBA Second Team twice and third-team 3 times.
Throughout his basketball career he played for the Shanghai Sharks of the Chinese Basketball Association and the Houston Rockets of the National basketball association.
He retired somewhat recently in 2011 because of ankle and foot injuries. But it’s been said that he helped make the NBA more popular in China.

3. Shawn Bradley Tied with Yao Ming (7 feet 6 inches)
Back in 1993 he was in his prime and was the Number 2 pick overall in the draft. Also when he was playing with the sixers he was given the number 76 to wear as a tribute to his height. In 1997 he lead the league in blocks.
Shawn is now retired but through his career he played center for the Philadelphia 76ers- New Jersey Nets- and Dallas Mavericks.
Also throughout his career he participated in many charitable endeavours.He is a national spokesman for the Childrens Miracle Network and appeared in the movie Spacejam.
2. Manute Bol ( Man-oot Bowl) (7 feet 7 inches)
Man-oot is actually tied for the number one spot for being the tallest player in the history of the National Basketball Association. Through his career he played for the Bullets- Warriors- 76er and Heat.
In his career he averaged 2.6 points- 4.2 rebounds- and 3.3 blocks. In 1985 to 86 he led the league with blocks with 5.0 per game. Then in 1988 to 89 with 4.3 per game.
Not only was this athlete a basketball star he was also an activist. Sadly he passed away at the young age of 47 due to kidney failure and a deadly skin disease called Stevens-Johnson Syndrome. This skin disease reaction happened while he was away on a charity mission to Sudan.
Steven Johnson syndrome is an immune system reaction that results in blisters on the skin and on the eyes- lips- mouth and any other mucus membrane in the body.

1. Gheorghe Muresan ( your gi Mer-shawn) (7 feet 7 inches)
In 1996 Your gi was named the NBAs most improved player. Your gi played a total of 6 NBA seasons – 4 of those where with the then Washington Bullets- and his last 2 with the then New Jersey Nets.
He is also the tallest man in Romania and tallest living person in the European Union.
