When it comes to proper gym etiquette theres a lot of rules that need to be followed. There are just Alright without further a due lets get started on our list of the top 5 things you should never do at the gym.

5. Steal a Trainers Exercise

yeah don’t try and be that sneaky person that acts like theyre doing their own thing only to peek over at the trainer and jack their moves.

If you want a trainer you have to pay for it. Never spy on them and try to mimic their exercises. The exercises they are performing are ment for that specific person they are training.

Not to mention you doing this is disrespectful to the trainer and client. Especially since the client has paid for this.

It’s a much better idea to just go up after the trainer is done their session and ask them how to do a certain move correctly. Theres a high chance they will gladly teach you the movement so you can do it properly.

4. Give Unsolicited Advice

The last thing you want to do at the gym is offend someone. There are many reasons you should avoid giving someone unsolicited advice and 2 of those reasons are- 1.. the person will tend to act defensively and not listen to what you say.

And 2- your advise could be wrong. Unless youre a trainer you should not be giving anyone advice. Remember all body types are different and what works for you might not work for someone else. If someone does end up wanting your advice they will approach you and ask for it.

3. Text While Walking

Now this is an everyday lesson not just while at the gym- but you should never text while walking. You think this should just go without saying but so many people do it. This is not only a risk to you but other people as well. Its never a good idea to walk aimlessly through a busy gym.

You would interfere with someones exercise and not even realize it. Or you could even walk into someone or worse walk into a machine. So the next time your at the gym avoid being distracted by your phone.

2. Personal Space

its never a good idea to walk close to a person whos exercising. You don’t know from one moment to the next if the person may accidently lose control and drop their weight.

Or if theyre next exercise involves a lot of movement. So in good gym educate is best to give people their space. Some people try and just squeeze by someone to avoid walking all the way around a set of machines. Yeah is not worth it- just walk the few extra steps.

Another thing to be extra cautious of is if someones doing a squat- deadlift or overhead press its extremely important you don’t walk right in front of their line of vision because this could cause them to lose focus and they could get hurt. Not to mention its rude.

1. Cleanliness

Theres one thing you never want to do and that’s use a mat or bench without cleaning it. Yeah it might take some time away from your workout but trust me its worth it.

And this goes far beyond not wanting the previous persons sweat on you. Dirty mats and benches can sometimes contain viruses- bacteria and fungi. Yeah no one wants that.

Be especially careful if you have a cut or scrape because if that area touches these germy surfaces you could get a severe infection.
