7 Countries That Will Disappear In The Next 20 Years

7 countries that will disappear in in the next 10 to 20 years. It might seem unreal to for some countries to completely vanish from the face of the earth or for new countries to be created, But it happens all the time. It’s just we don’t think about them.

One of the youngest countries in the world is South Sudan, for example. After a bloody civil war, the south of the country declared independence, and now its an entirely separate country.

Just 30 years ago, there was a country that’s called the Soviet Union, it made a quarter of the entire planet.

Despite its might and unbelievable influence on the world stage, the country collapsed and completely disappeared from the face of the earth.

We can talk indefinitely about the number of countries that have disappeared in the last 50 to 100 years, but what we want to explore in this video is:

What are the countries that will disappear in the next 20 years. So if you are ready and have smashed that like button already, we can start with the first one.

1. The United Kingdom

Once upon a time, not that long ago, this country has literally controlled the world. Canada, Australia, half of Africa, India, huge parts of the middle east, and many other nations were all part of the United Kingdom, but the beginning of the 20th century,

the decline of the British empire began and today the United Kingdom is on the brink of collapse. Before you write down a comment that it’s impossible for that to happen. Hear me out.

The United Kingdom consists of England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Island. In a June 2016 referendum, British voters chose to leave the E.U.

by a narrow margin of 51.9 to 48.1 percent. Since March 2017, the U.K. and E.U. have been engaged in messy negotiations about the terms of the divorce and the future relationship. However, the majority in the northern Island voted to stay in the E.U.

since its overall more beneficial for the residents. It takes out a lot of restrictions and makes doing business and moving around Europe much easier.

So the northern Island doesn’t see the point of sticking around with The U.K. anymore. If another referendum is held to leave the U.K. and join Ireland, it might very much get the majority.

In 2014, a referendum was held in Scotland to leave the United Kingdom, but 55 percent voted against it.

However, a lot has changed since then, Scotland might find itself in a much better position economically if it leaves the U.K. and joins E.U. especially when 62 percent of Scots voted to stay in the E.U.

The U.K. might seem United, but if you take a look at numbers, it’s divided with some parts willing to remain in the E.U. while others want to leave.

2. North Korea

After world war 2, Germany was divided into 2 parts, and a new country was formed – East Germany. It was more like a puppet state controlled by the Soviet Union.

While West Germany kept getting wealthier, east Germany stayed poor under the communist rule. In the 1960s, they even built a wall to stop the east germans from migrating to the west.

However, at some point, people got fed up with the Soviet rule and couldn’t stand the poverty anymore and collectively destroyed the Berlin Wall, and a year later, the Soviet Union collapsed. It seems like history will repeat itself with North Korea. The entire population is starving, while their neighboring cousins are among the richest countries in the world. The only reason The Kim family are able to stay in power is because they could completely isolate their population from the rest of the world. Some reports say that people in North Korea still believe that Yugoslavia exists.

It just a matter of time before more and more north Koreans will be aware that they are ruled by a selfish dictator and will overthrow him to unite with South Korea.

3. Maldives

As the demand for fossil fuels rose in the last century, so did the sea levels due to global warming. For every 2 temperature rise in the global temperature, the sea levels rise by seven feet. That might not seem huge, but its enough to change world geography.

There are many reasons whys the ice in the arctic and Antarctica are melting dow n, but as the oceans get warmer, they expand.

Oceans make up over 70 percent of the planet, so even a small increase can have severe consequences. One of the countries that are already experiencing a problem with it is the Maldives.

If the sea levels keep rising as they do today, the country of Maldives will be completely underwater; however, in the next 20 to 40 years, people of Maldives will have to migrate slowly to the neighboring countries. The country might just disappear when life simply becomes unsustainable.

4. Spain

7 Countries that Will Disappear In The Next 20 Years

The Maldives isn’t the only country that’s suffering from global warming. In just 20 years, scientists predict that the Lost Mountain glacier in northern Spain will disappear altogether.

Spain’s beaches are expected to shrink by an average of 15 meters by 2050 as global warming causes sea levels to creep up while stronger waves and currents eat away at the coastline.

But that’s not the only problem that Spain faces. Catalonia is one of the most critical regions in Spain and has been trying to get its independence. In fact, in 2017,

The Catalan regional parliament has voted to declare independence from Spain, but The declaration did not receive recognition from the international community.

However, that could change in the near future, and if Catalonia successfully reaches independence, that could trigger and push other regions to declare independence as well, and the Spain as we know it today might not exist.

5. Ukraine

Ukraine was part of the Russian empire back in the 19th center and then was part of the soviet union when the Russian empire fell, and the Soviet Union was created.

But once the Soviet Union collapsed, Ukraine has been used a buffer zone between Europe and Russia, however, when Ukraine started drifting more to Europe, Russia didn’t like that and destabilized it.

In fact, Russia already invaded Crimea, which was part of Ukraine and made it part of Russia. Russia also occupied the easter part of Ukraine and is currently at a conflict.

The problem is that Russians make up a huge percentage of the Ukrainian population. In some cities, especially in eastern Ukraine, Russians make up the majority.

Which makes it much easier for Russia to invade it. With all of these instabilities, Ukraine has very little chance to stabilized and prosper.

6. Palestine

Since the establishment of the state of Israel, The state of Palestine has been disappearing slowly. For the last 70 years, Israel kept expanding its borderings by taking over more Palestinian land.

In 1947, this is how the borders of Palestine looked like. 20 years later, Palestine lost most of its land to Israel due to wars and conflicts.

And if you look at the map, Palestine doesn’t even looks like a country, its aerospace is controlled by Israel and you have to go through security checks of Isreal to visit the country.

However, the people of Palestine somehow survived and fought for their country. However, for the last decades, Israel kept building settlements on Palestinian soil that are considered illegal by U.N.

and aren’t recognized by the international community. What’s worst is that president trump and prime minister of Israel are pushing a deal where all these illegal settlements will be legal and recognized by Palestina.

In fact, the deal says all the occupied land can’t be given back to their original owners. Chances are that Palestine will become simply a controlled region by the state of Israel and not an independent country in the next few decades is a real possibility.

7. Iraq

If you know anything about Iraq, its war, conflict, and instability. Since the invasion of Iraq by the United States.

This country was the playground for all the major powers at the expense of the Iraqi people. And for almost 20 years, the people of Iraq haven’t tested peace or prosperity.

But Iraq as a country shouldn’t exist in the first place. When British and the French were dividing the middle east back during ww1, their diplomats literally drew lines using rulers to create these borders without considering cultural, ethnic, or religious differences of people who live in these lands.

Under the rule of Authoritarian Sadam, the country was at peace but at the expense of suppressing minorities, those with different religious backgrounds who resented the majority.

And now since Shias are in power, they are pressing the Sunnis who are the minorities. Iraq is divided. The only way to stabilize it would be to divide it into 3 different countries, A country for Shias, a country for Sunnis, and a country for the Kurds. Countries come and go.

Just a few decades ago, we had a country called Yugoslavia, but it ceased to exist in 1992. Most of the countries in the middle east were created at the beginning of the last century.

There was a country called Chekoslovakia as recently as the 1990s. But each country declared its independence and today we have a separate country called Slovakia and the Czech republic.
